How To Be Cut Free

It is said of Jesus that out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword (Revelations 1:16, 2:12). We see that Jesus fights against sin and wickedness with this sword of His mouth, Revelations 2:16, “Repent, or else I will come to you quickly and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth.”

We know from the book of Hebrews that Jesus is referring to this sharp sword as the Word of God, which obviously includes His teachings. Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Ephesians 6:17 reveals part of our armor is the sharp sword of the Spirit which is the rhema Word of God. The entire Word of God from Genesis to Revelation is referred to as the logos of God. This means all of God’s recorded, infallible and divinely inspired Word. As we are reading and meditating in the logos Word of God, the Holy Spirit quickens and speaks a Word that speaks to our immediate situation that creates faith. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the spoken, quickened rhema Word of God (Romans 10:17) We can say this is a living, active, faith producing Word from heaven that is sharp and effective.

We also must include rhema words spoken by the Holy Spirit directly into our spirits that have the same result. The Greek word for “two edged” is “distomos” meaning a two mouthed sword. The power packed revelation of this truth brings deliverance and freedom on many fronts in our walk with Christ. The sharp cutting sword of Jesus becomes two edged when we receive quickened rhema words from the Spirit and declare then out of our mouth. These faith giving spoken words literally cut ungodly things away and out of us that hinder. Jesus’ sharp two edged sword cuts Believer’s free from stagnation, deception, soul ties, sinful affections, sickness, disease, lack, oppression etc.

The rhema words coming out of our mouth operates like a sharp sickle, clearing our path to reach our God given destinations. The words also are creative and bring multiplication, enlargement and expansion to our lives and ministries. Many of these words will require obedience, faith without corresponding action is dead. (James 2:17) Multitudes of Believers are stuck in ruts bound by passivity and inaction.

Pray this out loud with me in faith. “Father we choose to obey and decree your rhema Words. Thank you for cutting us free with precision. Father we declare, Psalm 129:4, “The Lord is righteous; He has cut in pieces the cords of the wicked.”
