Portrait of Revival
King Hezekiah was 25 years old when he became king and reigned 29 years in Jerusalem. Hezekiah was a burning revivalist with a deep passion and love for God. Listen to the Holy Spirit’s description of this man’s character and obedience. II Kings 18:4 – 7, “He removed the high places and broke the sacred pillars, cut down the wooden image and broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made; for until those days the children of Israel burned incense to it, and called it Nehushtan. He trusted in the LORD God of Israel, so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor who were before him. For he held fast to the LORD; he did not depart from following Him, but kept His commandments, which the LORD had commanded Moses. The LORD was with him; he prospered wherever he went. And he rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him.”
We see a clear pattern in II Chronicles 29:3 – 19. This passage shows us how Hezekiah was led by the Spirit of God to bring and awakening, revival and reformation. Notice the sequence of God’s wisdom manifesting for our benefit.
1. Reopened the doors to the Temple (vs. 3) and repaired them.
- The doors were never to be shut for 24/7 worship and prayer
2. Called the Priests (Ministry Leaders and Intercessors) and Levites (Worshippers) to a city wide regional gathering (vs. 4)
3. Called for consecration (repentance) and removal of rubbish (sin) and idols (vs.5)
4. Called for specific repentance for not encouraging and participating with 24/7 prayer regionally on some level (vs. 6 & 7) (My paraphrase)
-They had a command from God to not let the fire go out on the altar. Lev. 6:13, “A fire shall always be burning on the altar; it shall never go out.”
-There is no way Jesus has lowered the bar for all of us concerning His House of Prayer in our day. (Matt. 21:13 & 14)
All kinds of trouble, failure and defeat came because of neglect and lukewarmness concerning God’s House of Prayer. (vs. 8 & 9) The Holy Spirit is calling the Body of Christ in cities and regions to renewed consecration, repentance and covenant in solemn assembly gatherings to rebuild the corporate Altar of the Lord on a 24/7 unified basis and effort. (Joel 2:12 – 19)
Covenant commitment to God’s desire and Kingdom unity will cause Holy Fire to fall from heaven (II Chronicles 7:1) The weighty manifested glory of God will fill our temple’s individually, corporately and will rest on our region and state. This atmospheric presence will result in massive revival, healing, deliverance and harvest. Let’s join hearts in love and unity for Christ and the welfare of our region.
Shalom,
Pastor Michael
